Coldcut spent the 9th December in the Cyber Theatre Brussels promoting their newsoftware VJamm. The CyberTheatre is a fantastic venue with artists such as Simple Minds, Jaron Lanier, Laurent Garnier, and Kenny Larkin. Coldcut took over the venue for a VJamm demonstration then a LIVE show. The venue, Cybercafe by day, restaurant, Bar and rocking clubby night. The evening show was packed out and the Coldcut show ended with massive applause and a determined encore, Coldcut slid back on stage and jammedfor another 20 minutes. DJ Flip took over the decks afterwards and kept the crowd warm with some tasty scratching and excellent choice of tunes. The following day - an interesting train journey took us to the city of Paris. The Webbar was to be our home for the next 24 hours a three storey temple with multiple pc'sand an art gallery suspended from the ceiling. The venue was a cross between a cybercafe and restaurant, the press conference took place before the live gig and swarms of photographers, camera crews and journalists packed themselves into the venue. Much disappointment was inflicted on the regulars who couldn't even get through the door. Sweat dripped from the ceiling and into the art hanging down between the balconies, probably not the ideal conditions for this sort of exhibition! It was really interesting to see the different angles on the two cybercafes, Brussels were more forward thinking in their approach and France was more traditional, but the great thingabout these sorts of events is the universal nature. Both gigs were streamed live and were accessible to everyone everywhere, so here's to pushing this format in making it more widespread.
