The mixtape catalogues a transitional period of Brian’s life, one that rides the highs and lows of the last three years. On one hand, the project sees Brian looking within, reflecting on missed opportunities, personal growth, patience, and the inescapability of internal and external challenges. As Brian explains, “this project is an amalgamation of the things I should have said, could have said, tried to say but didn’t and couldn’t get it right when it mattered.” On another hand, ‘Anywhere But Here With You’ sees Brian at his most collaborative, with the first instalment featuring artists that he holds in high regard including Felix of Paris Texas and New York rapper Wiki, along with production from Joe Armon-Jones of Ezra Collective, LA musician and singer-songwriter Jerry Paper and English producer Paul White.

Lead single “Here With You” offers a first glimpse into this framework. It presents an instance where one runs into someone they don’t want to see, and uses that opportunity to say things that you want to say despite the inopportune time and place. Directed by Anthony Yano Hays, the accompanying music video finds Brian capturing Tokyo’s captivating people and places in the process.

“16mm has always been my favourite medium and I try my hardest to always shoot on film. I love the idea that every moment counts. Being more intentional pushes you to be a better artist! Travelling to Tokyo was already so exciting for me as it’s somewhere I've always wanted to go & on top of that, going to make a film?  Was a dream come true. I was only there for 2 weeks and we shot towards the end of the trip. We spent time hanging out in the city and getting to know all the amazing people we were spending time with. Going on location to scout and plan a film was an interesting experience because shooting never goes to plan! But I think that’s also part of the magic of working on film, the moments that are captured become all the more special.” - Brian Nasty
