Amsterdam based duo Weval (made up of Harm Coolen & Merijn Scholte Albers) return with new single ‘Never Stay For Love’ featuring Dutch singer / songwriter Eefje de Visser, out now on Ninja Tune imprint Technicolour. Known for creating highly textured and sophisticated electronic music the new track follows on from Weval’s stunning EP ‘Time Goes’, released earlier this year and before that, their acclaimed EP ‘Changed For The Better’ in 2021.

Created organically ‘Never Stay For Love (feat. Eefje de Visser)’ came about in 2020 during a weekend away with other artists. “We didn’t know Eefje very well on a personal level but we took the plunge and asked her to sing on a demo of ours. It was the very first thing she sang that blew us away. The funny thing was it didn’t really connect with the demo, so we took  her vocal and made a completely new idea with it. The combination of that beat plus her voice reminded us a bit of that late 90's trip hop/electronica era which always got us hyped..we’re really proud of the end result”

Speaking with Eefje on the track she commented, "On a vacation with a few musical friends I did some improvising on this song for Weval. This is the result! I love it a lot and I hope you will love it as well. When the boys sent me the final mix and edit, I played it in the car and a big flock of birds flew over the highway at the song's climax. I wish everyone a magical animal-moment when listening to this track”.

The duo are well known amongst peers and critics for their beautifully composed melodies and songwriting. Previous press coverage for the duo has been impressive, including support from Pitchfork, Billboard, The Line of Best Fit, Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, Mixmag, Clash, SPIN, Brooklyn Vegan, Crack Magazine, Dummy, Magnetic Mag, The Vinyl Factory and more. Radio highlights include a live performance at the historic Maida Vale studio for BBC Radio 1’s Residency series alongside artists such as Moderat, Darkstar, Gold Panda, Jessy Lanza and AKASE, plus their music has been featured in  TV shows Good Girls, Industry, and the HBO hit drama I May Destroy You by Michaela Coel.

Weval will be heading out on a US tour this November, with stops in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles.

‘Never Stay For Love (feat. Eefje de Visser)’ is out now on Technicolour, with more new music coming soon.
